Setup your QUID merchant account

Signup for a merchant account

When you're done installing the plugin, you can always click the QUID merchant page link on the QUID plugin settings page to visit your Merchant Dashboard.

Generate your API key and secret

  • Go to the merchant dashboard (click the Merchant button on the menu bar.)
  • Scroll down to the API Keys section and click Create a New API Key (or the + symbol if you have already created an API key). An API secret will also be generated for you.
  • There are two types of API keys: test, and live. To create a key that can be used to accept real payments toggle the switch so that the text reads "New live API key"
  • Add an origin for each website you want to use with this key. This must be a URL such as, Note that live keys must use https. To add an additional origin for the API key click on the ADD ORIGIN button and continue entering.
  • When you are done entering origins, click on the CREATE button. Your new key and secret will be displayed as shown:

To learn more about API keys, see About your API keys.

Configure the QUID Payments plugin

To start accepting QUID payments on your WordPress site you need to add the API keys to the plugin and configure each post for which you want to accept payments.

Login to your WordPress admin dashboard and hover over the 'Settings' tab on the left sidebar, doing so will display a dropdown, within that dropdown select the 'QUID Payments' tab. Clicking it will lead you to the 'QUID Settings' page.

Set your currency

Using the pull-down input under the label "Currency of your Merchant Account" select your currency. This must be the same currency as you selected for your QUID merchant account when you signed up. To confirm the currency of your QUID merchant account, check the settings page in your QUID merchant dashboard.

Add your QUID API keys to WordPress

Enter the Public and Secret Keys acquired above. Note that the Secret Key is only visible once in your QUID merchant dashboard -- when the API key is first created. If you don't know the Secret Key for the key you created, you'll have to make another.

Once you filled out the two fields with your keys, then press 'Save'. Next time you access the same page, the 'Secret Key' field will be blank (don't worry, unless you received an error message when saving it), the key is not shown to keep your account extra secure.

Accept tips and donations inside a WordPress post or page

You can add a QUID payment button, where you set the value of the tip, or slider, where you allow the visitor to choose the value, anywhere in your WordPress site using a shortcode.

In your WordPress admin, edit the blog page or post. Within the page or post body, identify where you want to place the payment button or slider. If you're using the new WordPress block editor add a new paragraph (or shortcode) block. If you're using the classic editor press enter to create a new line.

Enter the following shortcode:

[quid-slider price="1.00"]

Save and publish your post.

Accept tips and donations inside a WordPress widget area

You can add a QUID payment button or slider using WordPress widgets. In your WordPress admin navigate to Appearance > Widgets and add a new Text widget type to your widget area. Leave the title of the new widget blank, and add the following content to the text box:

If you like this site feel free to leave a tip.

[quid-slider min="0.01" max="2.00" initial="1.50" text="Buy me a coffee"]

Save your widget changes.

You're set!

At this point you are able to start accepting tips and donations with QUID! If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, don't hesitate to reach out.
